Located in White Salmon, on the other side of the Columbia River from Hood River, Major Creek Cellars is a boutique winery in the truest sense of the word. Their production is less than 300 cases; so if you can find their wines, try them. Especially their 2012 Cabernet Franc from the Dineen Vineyard in Columbia Valley. Cabernet Franc is having its moment as a darling amongst wine nerds, and with good reason. When they're good, they're food-friendly, bright, and fresh. The Major Creek Cab Franc checks these boxes."
Who are we?
Major Creek Cellars is a small family winery. We make premium red wine such as Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir. We emphasize gentle extraction and balance in very small lot production. We are one of the smallest wineries in the Columbia River Gorge with a total focus on producing the best wine in a very balanced style. The only mechanical action done to the grapes is the crusher, everything else is gravity flow or the use of nitrogen to move the wine. We only filter the rose', all other wines settle clear over a minimum of 18 months barrel aging and more in the case of Cabernet Franc. We use very low levels of oak and sulfite to finish the wines.
You can find our wines at Feast Deli and Market in White Salmon, at the Lyle Hotel and at the winery, of course.
One quick note about our website. Like the wine, we don't over do it. You wont see a popup ad from us for the newletter or special deal ads or anything. We are confident you will enjoy our wine just fine without a lot of website fizz.
